What's involved

Proper Bathroom tiling in Tamworth

01

Tanked & waterproof

Showers, wet areas and splash zones tanked and sealed before a single tile goes on: the bit that stops leaks later.

02

Set out properly

Tiles planned so full tiles land where the eye goes and awkward cuts are hidden: the mark of a proper job, not a rushed one.

03

Showers & enclosures

Neat tiling around trays, screens and recessed shelves, cut clean around every valve and fixing.

04

Over underfloor heating

Bathroom floors tiled over and around underfloor heating mats, laid level and sealed.

05

Plasterboard boarded for tile

Plain plasterboard in a shower area goes soft once water gets behind it. In the estate bathrooms it is replaced with tile backer board or tanked properly before tiling.

06

Hard water, easy-clean finish

Tamworth water is hard and leaves scale on grout and glass. Tight grout joints and a glazed tile keep a shower far easier to wipe down.

Bathroom tiling FAQs

Do you tank the bathroom before tiling?

Yes: shower areas and wet zones are tanked and waterproofed first. It is the step that keeps water out of the wall, and it is not one to skip.

Can you tile over old bathroom tiles?

Sometimes, if the existing tiles are sound and flat: but usually we strip them, prep the surface and start on a clean, level base so the new tiling lasts.

How long does a bathroom take to tile?

A typical bathroom is a few days including prep, tanking, tiling and grouting with drying time. We give you a realistic timescale in the quote.

Can you tile a small estate bathroom in Tamworth?

Yes, and small rooms are most of what gets tiled here. Larger tiles with fewer grout lines make a compact Amington or Stonydelph bathroom look bigger and are quicker to clean, as long as the walls are flat enough to take them.

Why is there a white crust on my tiles and shower screen?

That is limescale from the hard water in this part of Staffordshire, and it builds fastest on grout and glass. Wiping the tiles down after a shower stops most of it, and a glazed tile gives it less to grip.

Do you work in Wilnecote and Dosthill?

Yes, across Tamworth including Wilnecote, Dosthill, Glascote, Amington, Belgrave and Fazeley. The newer houses at Wilnecote and Dosthill usually have flatter walls to tile onto, so the preparation there is quicker.

A bathroom is the room a tiler is judged on. Everything gets wet, everything is seen up close, and a wonky joint or a leaking corner shows for years. So we prep the walls, tank and waterproof where it needs it, set out the tiles so the cuts fall in the right places, and grout it tight, from a compact Amington en-suite to a full family bathroom off the High Street.

Much of Tamworth was built from the 1960s onwards, when the town took overspill from Birmingham, and the bathrooms on estates like Stonydelph, Glascote Heath and Belgrave show it: compact rooms, plasterboard walls and chipboard floors upstairs. None of that is a problem, but all of it has to be prepared for tile rather than tiled straight over.
